BREAKING: Very Bad News For President Buhari, The Entire APC, As Senior Citizens Demand New Minimum Pension

Leaders of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) yesterday met President Muhammadu Buhari, demanding for an upward review of the country’s National Pension.

Led by Musa Ayuba, the pensioners told the President at the State House Villa during a courtesy call, that whatever that is agreed finally as the new minimum wage for workers should equally be adopted as the minimum pension for pensioners.

The request is coming three days to the expiration of the January 8 deadline by the organised labour to commence strike over issues relating to the N30, 000 new national minimum wage.

Commending the President for the prompt payment of pension, the union called for the creation of a ministry for senior citizens, a national policy on social security for the elderly, and the inclusion of pension in first line charge in the budget.

Responding, President Buhari said all the requests made by the pensioners would be looked into, subjected to the availability of funds.
