The management of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, says academic activities will resume on Thursday, January 3.
This is despite the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has paralysed academic activities in various public universities across the country.
According to a notice on LAUTECH’s website, the management committee reached this decision at its Wednesday, January 2, meeting.
“The University Management Committee at its meeting of Wednesday, January 2, 2019, directed that all students be notified of the commencement of academic activities (course registration and lectures) on Thursday, January 3, 2019,” the notice, signed by J.A. Agboola, the university registrar, read.
“Students are advised to check the University website for the academic calendar and lecture timetable for 2018/2019 Harmattan Semester.”
The union commenced an indefinite strike on November 5 saying it wants to save Nigeria’s tertiary education.
“The whole essence of this struggle is to ensure that our students get worthy and deserving certificates that they will be proud of anywhere they may find themselves in the world,” Abiodun Ogunyemi, national president of ASUU, said.
